Marilyn Mahon Feature

At 4’11” and 63 years young, Marilyn Mahon is living proof that style doesn’t have an age limit—and neither does confidence. As the voice behind @mimsandmini, Marilyn joined Instagram in late 2024 with one mission: to connect with vibrant, stylish women in their 50s, 60s, and beyond who still love living their best lives.

A Second Act Worth Celebrating

By day, Marilyn serves as Director of Data Management at a global company. But outside the (home) office? She’s a content creator, fashion enthusiast, grandmother of four, and proud advocate for women who are tired of being told to fade into the background.

“I’m petite, midsized, and I like looking my best,” she shares. “I wanted to create a community where women my age feel seen—and feel good.” That second-act energy drives everything she does online.

From Following to Leading

Marilyn had followed petite influencers for a while before deciding she had something valuable to offer too. “I love to mix classics with the latest trends,” she says. “I realized I could contribute in that space.”

Her style blends timeless pieces with fun, fashion-forward twists. And as a short-waisted petite, she’s always experimenting. Her go-to tip? Pair slim bottoms with flowy tops to balance proportions and elongate the frame.

Enter: “Mini”

One of the most heartwarming parts of Marilyn’s journey? She’s not alone in it. Her daughter—affectionately known as the “mini” in mims and mini—joins her on occasion, adding another layer of joy, relatability, and generational style to her content. Together, they represent the kind of mother-daughter confidence that turns heads and breaks barriers.

Representation Matters—At Every Age

For Marilyn, being part of the petite movement isn’t just about height. It’s about visibility. “I hope to show women in their 50s and above that we are not invisible. We still have a lot to contribute.”

She offers approachable looks, styling tips, and encouragement for women navigating fashion with a petite frame—especially when the clothes aren’t labeled “petite” but still work.

A Confidence Boost and a Community Win

One standout moment? A small boutique owner, Two Blue Sisters, gifted her pieces to showcase on her page. That gesture didn’t just boost her confidence—it affirmed her voice, her style, and her place in this movement.

Marilyn’s Motto:

“We may be small, but we are powerful.”

And she lives it daily—with every post, every style tip, and every message to her community.

My Take:

Style Has No Expiration Date—and Marilyn’s Proof

I absolutely love the energy Marilyn brings. Her confidence, her grace, and the fact that she’s holding space for women in their 50s and 60s? Yes, yes, and yes. It’s frustrating how often women over 40 are made to feel invisible—when in truth, those are some of the most powerful, stylish, and self-assured years.

I especially love the story behind “mims and mini.” The fact that her daughter sometimes joins her makes the name even sweeter. As a boy mom myself, I could only imagine the mini diva I might’ve had if I had a daughter. Just picturing it puts a smile on my face.

And truly—if the petite community has long felt ignored, petite women over 50 have felt completely erased. That’s why Marilyn’s voice is so necessary. She’s not just sharing style tips—she’s rewriting the rules. And I hope she inspires a whole new wave of women to speak up, show up, and be seen.
